Alien Resurrection

As a sequel to the Alien trilogy, the general consensus is that 'Alien Resurrection' scraps the bottom of the barrel. It goes for melodramatic impact with predictable deaths and corny action movie one-liners. A massive setback for a highly acclaimed sequence of films but not a bad adaption of a comic book series. Indeed the premise behind 'Resurrection' seems to have been lifted mostly from the Dark Horse comic's 'Alien' stories. The characters are richly 2-dimensional. Bad acting?

Alien 3

This is a rarity. Alien 3 is one of those flicks that gets more flack than it deserves. The only real problem I had with the film when it was released was the fact that 20TH CENTURY FOX duped everyone into thinking that the third ALIEN movie was to take place on earth (due to the misleading teaser trailer). I kind of liked the different style of the film and director FINCHER's bleak vision. Upon hearing of the restored footage I ran out for my copy, and was not dissapointed.

Aliens

James Cameron's 1986 sequel to the classic Ridley Scott 1979 original Alien movie is impressive in so many ways. The tone of the first is maintained but the general suspense is replaced with far more action which results in a superior sequel but maintinaing the terror of the original.

Alien

'Alien' is a film that created the modern 'space horror' genre; it also provided the springboard for director Ridley Scott's brilliant career. From the eerie beginning of the film (when the word 'Alien' forms in stages to the strange music), to the shock of the Facehugger leaping onto Kane's (John Hurt) face, and the horror of the Chestburster exploding from him, this movie has left us scenes that have become film history. I think most of have very clear memories of where we first saw this classic!
